Jump Start

My husband and I have finally found a diet plan that we are both willing to try. Its a vegetarian plan, starts with a 7 Day Cleansing Plan.
Its called CHIP - Coronary Health Improvement Project and is designed by Dr. Hans A. Diehl.

We start on Sunday officially. We did all our shopping today. We have also planned health meals for the next 2 days leading up to the cleanse.

For lunch today we made Portabella mushroom burghers.
Tonight we will have a baked potatoes with tuna and white sauce and vegetables.

The first two days of the Jump Start plan consists of Fresh Fruit and Wholes Grains (Brown Rice/Rolled oats)

Just should help me switch to a low salt and low sugar diet which should not only help me loose weight but also control the symptoms of Meneire's Disease.

Now the question is what exercise will I do today?

Dealing with cravings and Brain Exericse

Tried out this recipe today. Its Oh so good. Definitely will deal with my cravings for Lemon Meringue ( I never eat the top of the meringue). Got it on the Somersize Board run by BetsC from Looks Aren't Everything:

LEMON ZEST TART:
Preheat oven to 350.

Crust:
1/2 C plus 2 T vanilla whey powder
2 1/2 T sugar (I use WL)
5 T butter

Melt the butter and mix all three ingredients in an 8x8 cooking pan.
Press down on the bottom of pan. I use a spoon to 'even' it out.
Cook for 5 minutes.

Filling:
8 oz. cream cheese
3/4 C sugar-again whey low
3 eggs
1/2 C lemon jc.

Cream sugar and cream cheese together with mixer. Add eggs one at a
time, mix well each time. Add lemon jc. Mix until well combined.

Pour over warm crust and cook for 20 minutes. Let it cool, and then
refrigerate until cold.

Well I decided to have a rest day. I did try out a few minutes of T-Tapp from You Tube. I am very interested in Brain Gym - Left-Right Brain for learning etc....... I am so adding this to my wish list of DVD's.

"What can T-Tapp hoe downs do for you?
• Increase mental clarity
• Help control hormonal mood swings often experienced with PMS and menopause
• Drop glucose levels quickly. (From 62 to 85 points upon completion and an average rate up to 100 points at 10 minutes post completion
• Burn off excess glucose before it converts to fat.
• Optimal brain balance, because hoedowns involve simultaneous left/right brain cognitive processing. Because of this, initial coordination doing the single count lift/touches from front to side can be challenging, but within a week cognitive processing significantly improves. It is important to exercise the brain as well as the body for quality of life in senior years.

Hoedowns are really aerobic AND they work your legs, butt, core, lats and abs all at once, (and if you're really twisting those thumbs back and getting your elbows forward you'll feel it in your arms as well!) So try Hoe Downs once or twice a day and see what they do for you."

Weigh-in Tuesday

I weighed myself at my friends but I have decided that she must have played an April's Fool Joke on me cause there is no way I could have put on 3kgs in the last two weeks that I did not weight in.

Missing Scale

Today I really looked for my scale and it was nowhere to be found. I beginning to suspect foul play but it is not the 1 April.

I have arranged to weigh myself at friends tomorrow morning.

Drank 4 glasses of water today

Did 20-25min if yoga. Felt good afterwards. Did not feel so while I was doing it - I could not do all the poses. Not sure if it is just my weight that is in the way or if I have become less flexible.

Tomorrow I intend on doing some aerobics.

Eating was going well until my husband brought some hotcross buns...........

One of my 4 goals that I have not yet completed is recording what I eat. So goes my next try. Please note that this is not a particular diet but what I actually ate.

M: Glass of water
B: 1/2 Pronutro and 1/2 glass of milk
S: herbal tea and Homemade Low GI Jam tart
L: 2 Burghers and salad
Herbal and more water
S: 2 Hotcross buns with Real Butter and a glass of milk
SP: 2 rolls with cheese ( I gave my family fish, salad and green peas - but I just did not feel like eating that)

Reflection:
I started of the morning with good intentions but as the day progressed I made unwise choices.

The focus this week is to add in good things - not to focus on what I should stop doing.

So tomorrow it is going to be important for me to have at least one fruit and 1/2 veggies and 2-4 more glasses of water/herbal tea.

Atkins and Candida

Hi

I have not been following any 4 plan over the last two weeks. But a teacher at school lent a copy of the Atkins diet. I have been reading that. She thought I might find it useful after she heard that I had suffered with Candida.

I must say I was very skeptical and felt like hiding the book from other staff members because I know they would not approve. Half of them are vegetarians for one and the most belief that the less meat you in your diet is best (so do I).

Last year when I went on the Candida diet the doctor put me on - I found it extremely difficult and ate at least one thing everyday that I should not have. At the same time various books I read and the dietitian I saw said that the diet would not really help.

Carbs are my weakness eat a lot of them. I tried replacing my carbs with wheat-free carbs but that was really horrible. I just could not get used to it. I still cannot imagine going on the Atkins diet either but it definitely seems more doable and not as unhealthy as I thought it would be.

I am going away for the easter weekend - be making Monday night.

I am thinking of designing my own diet combining the Low GI concepts and food with some of the Atkins concepts. I still need to complete reading the book, I am also reading one of Joanna Hall's books (that I took out from the library before I got the Atkins Book).

Day 3 Breakfast Report

Glass of water & I have made a shake to take to school with me.

I seem to have lost my appetite a bit in the morning.

I sat in my exercise clothes yesterday but got up doing other projects in stead.

Tomorrow is a guest post on my Simone's Butterfly Blog from one of the Authors of the Virtual Tour I co-hosting with other bloggers. Be nice if stop by and say hi.

OOPs almost forgot that today is weigh in day - let me get on the scale.
YAY - 105.5 kg (232.6 pounds)

Last Weeks Stats: This weeks stats:
Starting:109kg (240.30 pounds)
Current:106.4kg (234.57 pounds) TODAY: 105.5 kg - a 0.9kg loss almost a 1 pound loss
Total loss: 2.6kg (5.73 pounds) Total loss: 3.5kg

TODAY - I am rewarding myself with a Reflexology session

To be honest I would be doing it anyway - a friend needed volunteers for 5 weeks 2 1hr sessions a week for her studies. Its a WIN-WIN in my books.

Report on Day 2

Hi All

The strangest thing today is that I can't remember having breakfast. After talking to my daughter and husband we have concluded that somehow I did have breakfast today.

This is unusual for me I rarely skip meals. I did not take lunch to school either. I finally had a two egg omelet and rye toast at Mugg & Bean coffee shop at 3pm.

I did drink a cup of tea in the morning and a cup of coffee at work. Also had two glasses of water.
Yesterday evening I went swimming for 20min. So it was a good exercise day.

Having a cup of detox tea and planning to exercise before having a light supper. think my mind and body is still trying to recover from last weeks stress.
